Types of Dermal Fillers

In today’s beauty industry, there are different types of fillers, each with a unique benefit and ideal candidates. The main difference among these fillers is their key ingredient, and the purpose of the filler. All types of dermal fillers can help you to improve fullness of your skin and boost your youthful appearance.

In your consultation, our providers will help you understand and select the right treatment. When searching for dermal fillers, here are some of the fillers you may get:

  • Hyaluronic acid (HA): hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring acid in your skin that gives it the volume it needs, and keeps it hydrated. As you age, the body stops creating hyaluronic acid. Getting HA fillers, helps to restore the natural facial features of your youth, making your parents more attractive and approachable.
  • Calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA): calcium hydroxyapatite is a filler that consists of certain substances found in your bones, beauty experts use this filler to resolve deep wrinkles. Results of these types of fillers often last long, approximately a year to three years. Radiesse is the industry leader for this filler.
  • Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA): these fillers consist of collagen and tiny balls that stay under your skin after they’ve been introduced using narrow injections, these tiny balls add volume to your skin and keep it taut. Bellafill is a common PMMA filler.
  • Deoxycholic Acid: deoxycholic acid injection is used to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe submental fat (‘double chin’; fatty tissue located under the chin). Deoxycholic acid injection is in a class of medications called cytolytic medications. It works by breaking down cells in fatty tissue. Kybella is the industry leader of this type of filler.
